In its third meeting of the year, the High End Committee of the MOIN Film Fund awarded around 1.3 million euros to eight projects - including Kida Khodr Ramadan's new Hamburg series "Santa Fu" and a historical film with Mads Mikkelsen. The Nordbuster Committee is also funding three additional projects.
Directors and 4 Blocks star Kida Khodr Ramadan takes us into a Hamburg prison in his new series: InSanta Fu (450,000 euros, Pantaleon Films, Munich), 19-year-old Momo is involved in a serious robbery, delivered to the knife by his own family and sentenced to nine years in prison. Behind bars, the budding professional footballer becomes a merciless criminal. There are 21 days of filming planned in Hamburg and the star cast of the six-part series includes Frederick Lau, Wotan Wilke Möhring, Detlev Buck and Peter Lohmeyer. The script was written by Juri Sternburg based on an idea by Katja Eichinger.
After directing the series "Das Boot", Director and Script Writer Matthias Glasner is starting a new cinema project:Dying (400,000 euros, Port au Prince Film & Kultur Produktion, Berlin) is a drama about a family that has long ceased to be a family. But when death knocks on their doors in an almost grotesque number of guises and forms, the members meet again. Sixteen days of filming are planned in Hamburg and four in Schleswig-Holstein. The main roles are played by Lars Eidinger, Lilith Stangenberg and Corinna Harfouch - other roles are played by Saskia Rosendahl, Maryam Zaree, Ronald Zehrfeld and Robert Gwisdek.
Danish star Mads Mikkelsen takes on the leading role in Nikolaj Arcel'sThe King's Land (150,000 euros, Zentropa Berlin). The historical film is set in 17th century Denmark. It centres on the German soldier Ludvig Kahlen, who travels to the wild heaths of Jutland to conquer the land at the behest of the Danish king against many odds. The script was written by Anders Thomas Jensen together with Nikolaj Arcel and the film has two days of shooting in Schleswig-Holstein.
Further production funding is available forSomething new (100,000 euros, Hellinger/Doll Filmproduktion, Berlin). The comedy by Karoline Herfurth is about Karla, who at almost 40 decides to stop waiting for love and have a child on her own - she wrote the script together with Monika and Tim Hebborn. 50,000 euros in production funding will also go to the latest adventure byThe three ??? (Wiedemann & Berg Film, Munich) under the Directorship of Tim Dünschede, who wrote the script together with Anil Kizilbuga.
The Nordbuster Committee has also analysed the drama Last Song for Stella (200,000 euros, Letterbox Filmproduktion, Hamburg) in the production. The new cinema film by Hamburg-based Director and Script Writer Kilian Riedhof deals with the controversial life story of the Jewish woman Stella Goldberg. The leading role is played by "Bad Banks" star Paula Beer. Riedhof wrote the script together with Hamburg-based Script Writers Marc Blöbaum and Jan Braren. The film has already received 400,000 euros in funding from the High End Committee.
Project development took place at the last high-end meeting for the biopicBorchert (30,000 euros, Tamtam Film, Hamburg), which is being directed by five different directors. The Script Writer is Marco Wiersch.
The High End Committee has awarded screenplay funding for two projects: Fundings were awarded to the dramaPassepartout (50,000 euros, Leitwolf Filmproduktion, Hamburg) by Johannes Rothe and Florian Vey about an art dealer and a forger of documents, and the series Ba'al (30,000 euros, Odeon Fiction GmbH, Munich) by Hamburg-based Script Writer Lasse Koch and Jesper Petzke from Munich about young Westerners in the Syrian war.
The Nordbuster Committee has supported two up-and-coming projects at the script stage: The tragicomedyFrankie & Sue (30,000 euros, Riva Filmproduktion, Hamburg) by Hamburg-based Script Writer Nicolas Stille and the comedyYasss Queen! (25,000 euros, MÄKSMY Films, Hamburg) by Hamburg-based Script Writer and HMS graduate Ellen Holthaus.

The High End Committee is responsible for films and series with production costs of over 3.5 million euros. The funding decision was made on 8 September by Christian Granderath, Murat Isgüder, Wenka von Mikulicz, Caroline von Senden, Ipek Zübert and Helge Albers.
The Nordbuster Committee is responsible for films that are of particular cultural and economic importance to the region. The annual funding sum of one million euros is provided by Warner Bros. in the form of a trust fund. The funding decision was made on 10 September by Maike Haas, Benjamina Mirnik-Voges and Peter Preisser.
