A Hamburg classic is returning to the big screen, freshly restored: Pia Frankenberg's "Burning Beds" will be shown in 16 Hamburg art house and district cinemas on 12 December as part of the "Eine Stadt sieht einen Film" event. Frankenberg and other cast and crew members will be on hand at many of the screenings for a short discussion with the audience. There are also other exciting programme items.
On 12 December, cinema and Hamburg fans can travel back in time to the Schanzenviertel district of the 80s. Pia Frankenberg shot her third feature film as Director, Script Writer and leading actress here 35 years ago with "Brennende Betten". The comedy about a forced flat share in the Schanze celebrated its premiere at the 1988 Hof Film Festival and was restored in spring 2021 on behalf of the Deutsche Kinemathek with funds from the "Film Heritage" funding programme.

"Burning Beds" will be shown in the following cinemas on 12 December (tickets can be purchased directly from the cinemas. There is no central advance booking):

The supporting programme
The highlight of the programme on 12 December is the filming location tour at 1 pm, during which a small group will walk through the Schanzenviertel district together with Pia Frankenberg and visit selected filming locations. Registration for the tour is now possible via "kontakt@eine-stadt-sieht-einen-film.de". Due to the limited number of participants, places will be drawn by lot on 1 December. Participation is free and this time will be accompanied by a film team for documentation purposes.
In addition, the Metropolis, B-Movie and Alabama cinemas will be showing a retrospective by Pia Frankenberg from 9 December to 15 December 2021, where you can look forward to numerous land and short films from the last 40 years.More info.
On the opening weekend of the new exhibitionCLOSE-UP. HAMBURGER FILM AND CINEMA STORIES Pia Frankenberg will also be a guest at the Altona Museum. Until July 2022, the exhibition is dedicated to the cinematic work in the Hanseatic city, to which the filmmaker undoubtedly belongs.
