Hamburg neighbourhood series at the Berlinale

Film-Norden will be represented at the Berlinale 2022 with four funded films and a high-end series. At the "Berlinale Series Market" there will be a first glimpse of the series "REEPERBAHN Special Unit 65".

Directors Georg Tschurtschenthaler and Executive Producer Christian Beetz give a first insight into their new true crime series at the Berlinale Series Market.REEPERBAHN Special Unit 65 tells the story of the fight of the first German special unit, Special Directorate 65, against organised crime in the 1980s. The main setting is the red-light district of St Pauli, where a brutal battle for money and power unfolds. The five-part series by Gebrüder Beetz Filmproduktion ("Rohwedder") was funded with 250,000 euros.
With the script for his dramaGewalten filmmaker Constantin Hatz was already nominated for the Thomas Strittmatter Award in 2018. The feature film is now screening in the "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" section at the Berlinale. The Kinescope production was supported with around 250,000 euros. It tells the story of teenager Daniel, whose life is characterised by emotional coldness and violence. The 14-year-old finds solace in nature, in a dense forest. When he meets the equally nature-loving outsider Marcel, he believes he has found a friend.
The first feature film by video artist Philip Scheffner celebrates its world premiere at the Berlinale Forum. InEurope (Production: pong film, Berlin), Zohra Hamadi can finally lead a normal life after a long history of suffering. But when her treatment ends, she loses her right of residence in France. Zohra decides to create her own world of possibilities.

The Documentary tells of the long-term consequences and global collateral damage of the warRetreat in the Berlinale Shorts. The short film was made by Hamburg filmmaker and artist Anabela Angelovska.
