Strong fleas and shrewd journalists

FUNDINGS PRODUCTION In the animated filmGo with the flea (800,000 euros, Little Dream Entertainment, Hamburg) by Script Writer and Director Ali Samadi Ahadi is all about the flea Felix, who was adopted by rhinoceros beetles and therefore believes himself to be one. When his village is attacked by an army of stag beetles, Felix finally gets the chance to prove himself. The film will have 150 animation days in Hamburg's Red Parrot Studios. Ali Samadi Ahadi wrote the script with Arne Nolting, with whom he also collaborated on "Peter's Ride to the Moon".

The series is about the drug-related death of an American woman in a Berlin techno clubThe Next Level (150,000 euros, Letterbox Filmproduktion, Hamburg) by Director Pia Strietmann. Nobody wants the story to make it big - except for journalist Rosa, who senses that there is more to it than meets the eye. The leading roles are played by Lisa Vicari, Paula Kober and Jens Harzer, among others. The series will have several days of filming in Schleswig-Holstein in summer 2023. The script is by Alexander Osang. A further 150,000 euros will go toSunny (Neue Schönhauser Filmproduktion, Berlin) by Directors Hanno Olderdissen (including "Lassie: An Adventurous Journey"). In the comedy, Christoph Maria Herbst plays a property fraudster who wants to get his half-brother Roland, a man with Down's syndrome, out of an inherited house by any means necessary. Post production of the film will take place in Hamburg. The script is by Clemente Fernandez-Gil.

FUNDINGS PROJECT DEVELOPMENT A genuine Schleswig-Holstein project comes from Director Sonja Kröner, whose dramaHusum Castle (35,000 euros, Walker+Worm Film, Munich) tells the story of the childhood of writer, translator and painter Fanny zu Reventlow at the end of the 19th century. InWish list (35,000 euros, Cuckoo Clock Entertainment, Hamburg) by Hamburg-based Director and Script Writer Ali Hakim, 13-year-old Nele wants to make the last wishes of her terminally ill sister Emma come true by reuniting her dysfunctional family. Hakim wrote the script together with Maximilian König and Raoul Reinert. In this comedy, Hamburg-based Script Writer and Director Anja Gurres sendsLove Escape (35,000 euros, Tamtam Film, Hamburg), the two newly in love Bente and Rieke are taken to an escape room for their wedding. Gurres wrote the script together with Hamburg-based Script Writer Manuel Ostwald.

FUNDINGS SCRIPT In the seriesThe ghosts of Demmin (57,000 euros, Oma Inge Film, Hamburg) is about 15-year-old Larry, who desperately wants to become a war reporter. But beneath her tough exterior and black humour lies a family trauma that needs to be overcome. The script is written by Amina Eisner, Ariana Berndl, Verena Keßler and Viktoria So Hee Alz. InSalvation (Marc Blöbaum, 40,000 euros) by the Hamburg-based team of authors Jan Braren, Kilian Riedhof and Marc Blöbaum is about a dystopian world in the year 2048 that is on the brink of collapse due to climate change. A further 35,000 euros will go to the fantasy seriesWorld Express (Junafilm, Hamburg) by Hamburg-based Script Writer Malte Thomsen. Co-producer is Red Balloon Film from Hamburg.

FUNDINGS DISTRIBUTION The High End Committee has awarded Fundings for two projects in the Distribution section: 65,000 euros will go to the family filmPony heart (Plaion Pictures, Planegg) by Directors Markus Dietrich, the thrillerThe riddle (Nameless Media / Der Petersen, Schleswig) by Directors Régis Roinsard is being supported with 20,000 euros.

The High End Committee is responsible for films and series with production costs of over 3.5 million euros. The funding decision was made on 11 May by Christian Granderath, Murat Isgüder, Wenka von Mikulicz, Caroline von Senden, Ipek Zübert and Helge Albers.
