The Hanseatic city is in cinema mode: this year's Filmfest Hamburg is taking place until 7 October - and has 17 productions with northern German participation on board. These include two series highlights with Heinz Strunk and Fahri Yardim as well as the German premieres of "King's Land" with Mads Mikkelsen and "The Lesson" with Julie Delpy and Richard E. Grant - the thriller was filmed entirely in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.

In addition, two real North German series highlights await us with 'Last Exit Schinkenstraße' and 'Die Quellen des Bösen'. However, this is also the last edition of the film festival with festival director Albert Wiederspiel, who is leaving the film festival after more than 20 years of well-deserved retirement. It's great what he has created in Hamburg over the past decades with a great love of cinema and political commitment. We will miss him!"
