Hamburg, 03.12.25 - In its most recent meeting, the High End Committee of the MOIN Film Fund supported an extraordinary series project: The German-British production "Hamburg Days" (AT) tells the story of the early days of the Beatles in Hamburg's neighbourhood and the friendship surrounding a group of German artists led by Klaus Voormann. Showrunner of the series: "The Crown" Director Christian Schwochow.

The six-part fictional series for AGC Television, ZDF and BBC is to be filmed at original locations in Hamburg in spring 2026. The material is based on the book "Warum spielst Du 'Imagine' nicht auf dem weißen Klavier, John?" by Beatles friend and graphic artist Klaus Voormann and will be produced in Germany by W&B Television - the Executive Producers behind hit series such as "Dark", "4 Blocks" and "Crooks".

Helge Albers, CEO of MOIN Film Fund: "Hardly any other story epitomises Hamburg's pop cultural DNA as much as the beginnings of the Beatles on the Reeperbahn. 'Hamburg Days' brings back this time with great narrative power - and with a team of international calibre. This series has the potential to put the Hanseatic city on the global playlist."

The funding comes from the special funds for high-end series of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The MOIN Film Fund is thus sending a clear signal in favour of outstanding series productions "made in Hamburg".

More about the series "Hamburg Days":
HAMBURG DAYS (AT) is set in the early 1960s: nightlife is buzzing in St. Pauli and the smoky bars on the neighbourhood attract sailors, artists and petty criminals alike. At this time, a new music scene was developing in the clubs of the notorious red light district and many a band dreamed of a big breakthrough here. The young artist couple Klaus and Astrid also immerse themselves in this fascinating and previously unknown world. When they meet a chaotic band from Liverpool one evening and become friends with the musicians, neither of them realise that they will soon set the ball rolling that will turn this unknown pub band into the biggest music phenomenon of all time: The Beatles.

W&B Television and Turbine Studios produce HAMBURG DAYS (AT) with the support of AGC Television, ZDF and the BBC. The idea for the six-part series comes from Benjamin Benedict, with Jamie Carragher ("Succession") as head writer responsible for the scripts. Klaus Voormann acts as exclusive consultant. Christian Schwochow ("The Crown") will be the showrunner of HAMBURG DAYS (AT), while Mat Whitecross ("Oasis: Supersonic") will be the Director. The musical score will be provided by renowned producer and BAFTA award-winner David Holmes ("Killing Eve", OCEANS series).
