On Grindelallee, slightly detached from the street, the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Hamburg is situated. The nostalgic looks inside the show rooms with 1950s appeal characterise this location. The museum spreads over two levels which are visible through the open ceiling. It shows the most beautiful gemstones and crystals in its display boxes which are mostly framed by timber panels.

The ethnological museum, built between 1907 and 1911 and extended in 1929, has an asymmetrical layout. It consists of grand halls with pillars and reinforced concrete ceilings and has excellent bright spaces like those of a shipping company´s office. The pompous facade and the marble entrance hall stand for the wealth of foreign countries exploited by Hamburg. Foreign cultures and traditions are exhibited in the museum.
Agathenstraße

The Agathenstrasse is a small street in the district of Eimsbuettel, next to the Schaeferstrasse. The small houses with stairways and wrought-iron fences remind the visitor of London or Amsterdam.
Dammtorbahnhof

Modelled after the Friedrichstrasse and Alexanderplatz train stations in Berlin, the Dammtor train station, also simply called the Dammtor, was designed as an elevated railway. Broad Jugendstil, rustic stone facades and an ornate steel and glass roof are the impressive features of this carefully-restored train station. The entrance to the station is at ground level, the platforms are located above. In the vicinity of the building lies the old botanical garden. The Dammtor is Hamburg´s third train station in the city, the main station and the train station in Altona being the other two.
