19.09.2017 | The FFHSH at the film festival
17 FFHSH-funded productions are on the programme at the 25th Filmfest Hamburg, including the Cannes award-winning drama "A Man of Integrity" by Mohammad Rasoulof and the short film "Watu Wote" by Katja Benrath. The Hamburg Media School (HMS) graduate received the 2017 Student Oscar for her graduation film. 20 international Executive Producers will once again meet at the second "Series Lab Hamburg" to work on European series projects.
The KALEIDOSCOPE section showcases world cinema at the Filmfest Hamburg. Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein is represented with four productions:
A Man of Integrity by Mohammad Rasoulof Rasoulof's drama "A Man of Integrity" celebrates its German premiere at the Filmfest Hamburg. He won the main prize in the "Un Certain Regard" category at the Cannes Film Festival for his sixth feature film.
Drift by Helena Wittmann, fuenferfilm The production by Hamburg film artist and HFBK graduate Helena Wittmann was shown at the Venice Film Festival as part of the 32nd International Film Critics' Week.
Once upon a time there was Indian country by Ilker Çatak, Riva Film Student Oscar winner and HMS graduate Ilker Çatak celebrates the world premiere of his feature film debut Es war einmal Indianerland in Hamburg.
Simpleby Markus Goller, Letterbox Filmproduktion The film starring David Kross and Frederick Lau will also be shown in selected cinemas in the Hamburg metropolitan region as part of the "Stadt, Land, Filmfest" series of events in cooperation with Hamburg Marketing.
In the FREIHAFEN section, selected German-European projects compete for the "Hamburg Producer Award for European Cinema Co-Productions". The following will be shown:

Tehran Taboo by Ali Soozandeh, Little Dream Entertainment At the Cannes Film Festival, the feature film debut of the German-based Iranian Ali Soozandeh was on the programme of the "Semaine de la Critique" series.
The swan by Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir, Junafilm The Swan celebrated its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Until the birds return by Karim Moussaoui, Niko Film Moussaoui is one of the few Algerian filmmakers and thus an important voice in the country. Post production of the drama took place in Hamburg.
In the HAMBURGER FILMSCHAU series, the Filmfest Hamburg presents the lively and diverse film industry from Hamburg. Films produced and shot in and from Hamburg are shown. The FFHSH has supported the following productions:

FFHSH EVENTS AT THE FILMFEST HAMBURG
Series Lab Hamburg Tue, 03.10. - Thu, 05.10., 25hours Hotel Hamburg Hafencity Following the successful start in 2016, 20 European series producers will once again meet with 20 international financiers. Over two days, the focus will be on the specific dramaturgy of series. Also taking part: screenwriting experts Nikolaj Scherfig ("The Bridge") and John Yorke ("Wolf Hall"). The SERIES LAB HAMBURG is a co-operation between Creative Europe Desk Hamburg, Letterbox Filmproduktion and Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.
Behind the Scenes: Series Lab Fri, 06.10., 11.30-13.30, Abaton cinema, Allende-Platz 3 The SERIES LAB HAMBURG is open to all those interested in the industry for two case studies of European series highlights: "Bad Banks" by Christian Schwochow, presented by Letterbox Filmproduktion and the Film Fund Luxembourg, and "Maltese" by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli, presented by Palomar Filmproduction, ZDF Enterprises and Maze Pictures.
Big data - what's pulling and how much? Mon, 09.10., 15.30-17.00, film festival tent The German Film Academy and the FFHSH want to get to the bottom of the question of how German film can find its audience with big data. Guests include: David Croyé (JustWatch), Jannis Funk (Cinuru Research, Filmuniversität Babelsberg), Stefan Kuhlow (WerbeWeischer), Daniel Sibbers (Yorck Kinogruppe), moderated by Uli Höcherl (Blickpunkt Film).
Playground or springboard - what opportunities do YouTube, funk and co. offer filmmakers from northern Germany? Wed, 11.10., 15-16.30, film festival tent How can you earn money with moving images on video portals? And which content can be successful despite huge competition? The panel organised by FFHSH and nextMedia.Hamburg will provide some initial answers. The participants: Nina Heinrich (Wendie Webfest Hamburg), Lina Kokaly (Radio Bremen; funk series "Wishlist"), Yvonne Olberding (Cineteam Hannover), Britta Schewe (Grete Grote Internetproduktion).
Harbour Boat Tour Sat, 07.10., 11-13 h + Thu, 12.10., 15-17 h, meeting point jetty Kajen On the traditional Filmfest Hamburg tour, the Film Commission of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein provides an overview of the diverse locations around the Port of Hamburg.
Tablet Tour - Searching for film locations with the tablet Sun, 08.10., 12-14.30 + 15.30-18, meeting point Reeperbahn in front of the docks The city tours organised by the Hamburg Loves Film initiative present current productions and film classics. What's special: Each guest receives an iPad on which the appropriate film clips are played and commented on at the film locations.
ABOUT THE FILMFEST HAMBURG: TheFilmfest Hamburg takes place from 5 to 14 October 2017. A total of 130 world, European and German premieres will be screened. The festival cinemas are the Abaton, CinemaxX Dammtor, Metropolis, Passage and Studio-Kino. The film festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, 15 years of festival management by Albert Wiederspiel and 15 years of the MICHEL Kinder und Jugend Filmfest.
