The nationwide sustainability initiative "Keen to be green" organised by German Film
Due to the unbroken demand and the current relevance in view of new legal regulations, the successful series with Green Film and TV expert Philip Gassmann is to be continued in the autumn.
A total of seven panels with examples of green practice and interesting guest speakers were organised in the first half of this year. The panellists included Directors and Script Writers Lena Krumkamp, Lars Jessen, Max Zähle and Connie Walter as well as actors Lea van Acken, Moritz Vierboom, Esther Roling and Andrea Gerhard, who discussed "Green Story Telling" and "Green Producing". In addition, a variety of environmentally friendly ideas and technical innovations on topics such as power supply, lighting, buildings and costumes were presented by pioneers from sustainable companies.

The nationwide "Keen to be green" initiative was launched by the German Film Commissions back in May 2020 to provide film and media professionals with individual training in the field of sustainable work processes and to offer all interested parties the opportunity to find out about the latest developments in the field of "green filming". Since then, there have been numerous workshops and panels aimed at the trades of Production Design, Costume Design, Script and Directors, Production, Lighting and Camera, Agencies and Acting. Green filming and TV expert Philip Gassmann provided information on the basics of green production in online seminars specially tailored to them.
Almost all federal associations of the film and TV industry have now been won as partners of "Keen to be green". They include: the Association of Production Design & Costume Design Professionals (VSK), the Federal Association of Film and Television Production (BvP), the Federal Association of Production & Production Managers (b:hp), the Federal Association of Cinematographers (BVK), the Federal Association of Lighting & Camera Stage (BVB), the Association of Agencies for Film, Television and Theatre e.V. (VdA), the Association of Film and Television Actors (BFFS), the Federal Association of Directors (BVR), the Association of German Script Writers (VDD) and the Federal Association of Green Consultants (GCD). The initiative is supported by the German Film Academy, the Produzentenallianz, the Produzentenverband e.V., the Association of German Commercial Film Producers, the German Academy for Television and Changemakers.film.
With the "Keen to be green" initiative of their film commissions, the regional German film funding organisations of the federal states - FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, HessenFilm und Medien, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, MFG Baden-Württemberg, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Filmförderung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen - want to support the industry in this necessary further training.
