MOIN Film Fund shows green edge
15.03.2022 | German Sustainability Code
Sustainability has played a central role at MOIN Film Fund for more than ten years. With immediate effect, the company now also fulfils the criteria of the German Sustainability Code, thereby demonstrating its commitment: The requirements for the film industry also apply in-house.
With its comprehensive sustainability strategy, MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein has issued its first declaration on sustainability.German Sustainability Code (DNK) published. In Germany, the DNK has stood for maximum transparency in the area of sustainability since 2010. Companies must fulfil 20 criteria, ranging from climate-relevant emissions and equal opportunities to resource management and social impact.
Helge Albers, CEO of MOIN Film Fund: "Sustainability has been an issue for us for more than ten years. We were the first in the industry to introduce the Green Shooting Card, a label that recognises sustainable film productions. Since 2020, we have obliged all filmmakers who apply for Fundings from us to comply with ecologically sustainable criteria. With the German Sustainability Code, we are showing that we apply these criteria not only to the outside world, but also to ourselves. And this process is far from over - we are constantly learning."
Back in 2020, the MOIN Film Fund published on its website aGreen mission statement which outlines various measures within the company. These include the 100 per cent use of green electricity, sustainable office supplies, local and vegetarian event catering, the use of LED lamps and incentives to cycle to work. In addition, MOIN Film Fund in Hamburg has been Ökoprofit-certified since 2016.
In order to fulfil the German Sustainability Code, these and other measures had to be written down, expanded and made comparable. The focus here was on a clearly recognisable and holistic corporate strategy, in which internal processes in various areas had to be disclosed. For example, one of the main long-term goals is the reduction and measurability of CO2 emissions in the areas of energy and mobility, as these sectors demonstrably generate the most emissions.
About the German Sustainability Code The German Sustainability Code was developed in 2010 by the German Council for Sustainable Development in a dialogue process with representatives from politics, the financial market, companies and civil society organisations. To fulfil the Sustainability Code, companies must submit a declaration on the 20 Sustainability Code criteria and the supplementary non-financial performance indicators - the declaration by MOIN Film Fund is available in full on the official website.DNK website can be viewed here. The aim of the declaration is to make it easier for companies to get started with sustainability reporting and to visualise the development of green measures over time through regular evaluations.
