
US remake of Honig im Kopf

With more than 7.3 million cinema-goers, Til Schweiger's "Honig im Kopf" is one of the most successful German films of recent years. The international remake "Head Full Of Honey" with stars Nick Nolte and Matt Dillon is currently being filmed in England, Italy and, of course, Germany - the film team recently visited Bad Oldesloe. Til Schweiger is once again directing the remake.
The first clapperboard closed on 11 MayHead Full Of Honey in London. Since then, Directors Til Schweiger and his team have worked their way through Berlin, Brandenburg and Schleswig-Holstein to Venice and South Tyrol - a total of 48 days were scheduled for filming. The story about grandfather Amadeus Rosenbach (played by Dieter Hallvervorden), who suffers from Altsheimer's disease, will be familiar to many cinema-goers here in Germany, but the cast has of course changed: Nick Nolte plays the role of grandfather Amadeus, Matt Dillon embodies his son Nick and Nolte's daughter Sophia Lane Nolte can be seen in the role of granddaughter Matilda - making her acting debut. There was also prominent support for the script: none other than the successful British author Jojo Moyes (A Full Six Months) co-wrote the script with Schweiger.
The town of Bad Oldesloe, where scenes for the 2014Honey in the head Schweiger has fond memories of the film: "We are delighted that we still have the opportunity to shoot in this fantastic location in Bad Oldesloe after four years and with a Hollywood cast. The surrounding nature is simply beautiful and perfectly matches the mood in Head full of Honey." Nick Nolte was also enthusiastic about the north: "I thought it was really great to shoot in the rural areas of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. The whole landscape was picturesque - you'll see it in the film."
Head full of Honey is an English-language production by Barefoot Films in co-production with Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany and was funded by Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, among others.
