Committee 1 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded more than 2.7 million euros to 22 projects at its last meeting of the year, including Moritz Bleibtreu's first directorial work and Elizabeth Banks' remake of Charlie's Angels.
Hamburg's all-round talent Moritz Bleibtreu presents the psychological thrillerCortex (550,000 euros, Paloma Entertainment, Hamburg) presented his first directorial work. The film is about 50-year-old Hagen, who one day develops disturbing nightmares. He repeatedly dreams of the young criminal Niko, who enters into a relationship with Hagen's wife Karoline in his dreams. The film stars "Beat" star Jannis Niewöhner, Nadja Uhl and Wotan Wilke Möhring, among others. Shooting starts in February 2019 with 23 days of filming in the Hanseatic city.
Accompanied by a huge media response, the action film Silver Cloud (AT) (400,000 euros, Thirty-seventh Babelsberg Film, Potsdam) was shot in Hamburg in September. Behind "Silver Cloud" is the remake of the legendary Charlie's Angels brand. Hollywood star and Director Elizabeth Banks portrays three strong women who put their male adversaries in their place with charm, cleverness and wit. The roles of the angels are played by Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska. The film team spent millions in the city during the eleven days of filming - with many Hamburg film makers in all trades, a large number of extras and costs for permits for shooting, hotels and security personnel. Banks and her crew were also the first film crew to be allowed to shoot in Hamburg's new landmark Elbphilharmonie concert hall.
