
Novel adaptations and crazy animated hits

In the last meeting of the year, Committee 1 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awards around 2.7 million euros to 25 projects. Among them are the animated film "Stichkopf" and a drama by Sabrina Sarabi, which is backed by the "Systemsprenger" Executive Producers Weydemann Bros.
There is an excursion into the animation genre withStitch head (550,000 euros, GRINGO Films, Cologne) by Steve Hudson and Toby Genkel from Hamburg. In this family film, a mad professor breathes life into his creatures in Grottenow Castle - and then promptly moves on to the next experiment. The only one who takes care of the castle and its many monsters is Stichkopf - the very first creature the professor created. Around half of the animation work will take place at the Hamburg-based company Studio Rakete.
Following her debut film "Prélude", which was released in cinemas in summer 2019, Directors and Script Writer Sabrina Sarabi is next tackling an adaptation of Alina Herbing's novel: withNo One's with the Calves (400,000 euros, Weydemann Bros., Hamburg), she tells the story of 24-year-old Christin, who lives on the farm of her long-time boyfriend Jan in the East German province. The spirit of optimism of the post-reunification years is long gone and Christin just wants to get away. The film team has planned 18 days of filming in Schleswig-Holstein. The Hamburg production company Weydemann Bros. currently has hopes of an Oscar nomination with "Systemsprenger".

Cinema-goers can look forward to a mixture of intrigue and action inWithout Remorse (100,000 euros, Thirty-ninth Babelsberg, Potsdam) by Directors Stefano Sollima, which is based on the novel of the same name by Tom Clancy. Executive Producer and Director Cordula Kablitz-Post tries to capture the music phenomenon Scooter in her DocumentaryHyper Hyper - H.P. Baxxter and Scooter (100,000 euros, avanti media fiction, Berlin). InA House in Jerusalem (100,000 euros, Red Balloon Film, Hamburg) by Alayan Muayad, a father moves with his daughter from New York to the old family home in Jerusalem after the death of her mother, where the girl meets the ghost of another girl. A total of nine projects received production funding totalling 2,190,000 euros. Of this, 800,000 euros went to three projects directed by women.
The Committee continued to support four projects in project development: the tragicomedyOver & Out (36,800 euros, Oma Inge Film, Hamburg) by Script Writer and Director Julia Becker, the children's filmPonyheart - wild and free! (35,000 euros, Riva Filmproduktion, Hamburg) by Script Writer Peter Freund, the DocumentaryThe stronger ones (25,000 euros, Fabian&Fred, Hamburg) by Script Writers Ulrich Limmer and Kurt Langbein (Directors Daniel Vogelmann) and the seriesThe very near future (15,000 euros, Tatami Films, Hamburg) by Sebastian Egert. In the screenplay funding category, six projects will receive funding: the drama seriesRubble (38,800 euros, Dor Film-West, Munich) by Emily Reimer, the dramaMorenga (30,000 euros, zero one film, Hamburg) by "Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer" Director Lars Kraume, the coming-of-age seriesWhen we were friends (30,000 euros, Tamtam Film, Hamburg) by up-and-coming author Lennard Eberlein, the bouncer seriesPumper (25,000 euros, Senator Film, Berlin) by Tarek Ehlail and Daniel Schwarz, Nana MeyersSanta Panda (25,000 euros, Red Balloon Film, Hamburg) andA Way (20,000 euros) by Script Writer David Aufdembrinke.
In the area of Distribution and Sales, Fundings are available for, among other thingsLindenberg! Do your thing (60,000 euros, DCM Filmdistribution, Berlin) andThe Heinzels - Return of the brownies (60,000 euros, Tobis Film, Berlin). A total of six projects are being funded with 242,000 euros.
The funding decisions were made on Wednesday, 20 November 2019 by committee members Helge Albers, Steen Bille, Sophie Molitoris, Peter Preisser, Christian Granderath and Caroline von Senden.
