Filmfest Hamburg 2020 in hybrid format

In view of the current situation, it was not clear for a long time what form the Filmfest Hamburg would take from 24 September to 3 October. But now Albert Wiederspiel and his team have had their say. You can look forward to an online and offline mix.
Round70 films in ten sections, the Filmfest Hamburg in its programme this year from 24 September to 3 October - the majority of which will be shown in real cinemas. In order to ensure safety in times of corona, a trick is being used: the seats that have to remain free are being offered as streaming tickets for home use. "To ensure that the digital offer that we haveStreamfest Hamburg is not just a pure film call, but also conveys a festival experience, we record conversations with the filmmakers in advance and are currently working on participatory online formats," reveals festival director Albert Wiederspiel in aFocus on film interview. The festival cinemas are as usual the CinemaxX Dammtor, Abaton, Studio, Passage and Metropolis cinema - extended by the Filmfest ums Eck cinemas. Also for theSpecialised industry there will be physical events, but these will also be supplemented by an online offering due to limited capacity.
The festival is foregoing German premiere status for this year's edition, so films that were shown at the Berlinale 2020, for example, will also be screened. There will also be no competitions or juries this year. The only exception is the Commerzbank Audience Award, endowed with 5,000 euros, which will be presented this time to the best film of the entire festival.
This year's Filmfest Hamburg will open with the filmEnfant TerribleThe cast and crew will be travelling to the Hanseatic city for its international premiere. Incidentally, last year's fantastic opening film "The Most Beautiful Time of Our Lives" will be shown on Saturday, 1 August, at 9 pm in the filmRaum OpenAir cinema in Stadtpark Eimsbüttel.
