The "International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk" has already been able to help a total of 108 Ukrainian filmmakers with its Emergency Fund. After the German film funding organisations had already contributed 100,000 euros to the fund in March, there will now be further support amounting to 100,000 euros - because the situation remains precarious.
In March, the "Emergency Fund for Filmmakers" was set up by the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk (ICFR) - now there is an initial interim balance sheet: 108 filmmakers in the crisis region have so far been supported locally with small grants of between 500 euros and 1,500 euros. The money is used, for example, to cover the costs of a temporary relocation or legal and administrative fees.
Back in March, German film funding organisations showed solidarity with the Ukrainian film community and supported the fund with 100,000 euros. As help is still urgently needed in view of the still precarious situation, Germany is now once again providing support totalling 100,000 euros. The money will benefit both filmmakers in Ukraine who are currently in immediate danger and filmmakers in Russia and Belarus who are openly opposing the war.
