
New FFHSH Committee promotes for the first time

Premiere for the new "Kurz + Innovativ" Committee of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein: In its first meeting, the funding round awarded a total of 200,000 euros to seven short films and one immersive project. They include an installation by the film collective behind the Berlinale success "Futur 3" and a crazy animated adventure about animal mongrels in space.
The new FFHSH Committee supports both short films and innovative audiovisual formats, from VR experiences to 360-degree films. Funding is provided in the form of grants.
Five mutant, talking and singing animals are the main characters inZoopticon - Songs from the Posthuman ARK (38,000 euros, Sandra Trostel, Hamburg) by the two Directors John Frickey and Thies Mynther from Hamburg. The animals are inhabitants of the spaceship Zoopticon and one day find the skeleton of a strange creature that turns out to be human. The script for this wacky animated adventure in short film format was written by Christoph Mathieu.
A special kind of immersive experienceCivil Dusk (30,000 euros, Jünglinge Film, Hildesheim) by David Uzochukwu. At the centre of the cinematic installation is a homesick Nigerian father who dissolves into sand in the midst of his European family. What makes it special: An African house is constructed for the experimental docu-fiction, on whose interior walls the film is later played. The house will be built in Hamburg and the fictional part of the film will also be shot in the Hanseatic city. The production company Jünglinge Film recently caused a sensation with its film "Futur 3" at the Berlinale 2020. The installation is set to premiere at the CPH DOX International Documentary Film Festival in Copenhagen in 2021.
An animated film for children about fear and courage comes from Marita Mayer: the German-Norwegian co-productionI'm not afraid! (35,000 euros, Fabian & Fred, Hamburg) shows in around five minutes how little Vanja plays hide-and-seek with his older siblings in a dark inner courtyard - and has to summon up all his courage in the process. In the experimental filmAltheim apocalypse (30,000 euros, Ann Carolin Renninger, Munkbrarup), filmmaker Lucia Margarita Bauer follows her father with her camera, who firmly believes that humanity is facing a caesura of biblical proportions. Hamburg filmmaker Jörn Staeger presents the filmMemory Berlin room (20,000 euros) is a mixture of animation, documentary and fiction about Berlin in the 70s and 80s. A second father's story comes from Hamburg filmmaker André Siegers: in Mendel's Method (18,000 euros, fünferfilm, Hamburg), he accompanies his father, who is suffering from ALS and is slowly losing his voice and wants to preserve it with the help of a quantum physicist and inventor.Duty-free (15,000 euros) is the title of the new short film by Hilke Rönnfeldt from Schleswig-Holstein, which is set in a floating duty-free shop on the Baltic Sea. The docu-fiction film is about a secret relationship between a social pedagogue and a conspiracy theorist in times of lockdownAdrenochrome (14,000 euros) by Daniel Hopp from Hamburg.

The funding decisions were made on 19 May by Birgit Glombitza, Ralph Heinsohn, Ingo Mertins, Britta Schewe, Insa Wiese and Arne Sommer.
