Hamburg docks
13.09.2021 | 18th documentary film week hamburg

Time for Documentaries: From 15 to 19 September, the documentary film week hamburg starts its 18th edition. There will be a total of 27 events with films and guests over five days - including three MOIN-funded projects.
Even though festival planning in Covid times is anything but easy, the documentary film week hamburg festival team was able to put together a small but excellent programme, which will be shown this year in the three festival cinemas Metropolis, B-Movie and Lichtmeß. The films shown range from international award-winning productions to Hamburg debut films. The festival has always seen itself as a place for exchange with international guests and a meeting point for the local scene.
Under the label "Hamburg dockt an", works will be shown this year that all have a connection to the North German documentary film scene. Among them is the MOIN-funded filmBorn in Ravensbrück (B-Movie 19.09. 13.00) by Jule von Hertell. What is it about? Ingelore Prochnow was born in the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp in 1944. Miraculously, she survived. She grew up with adoptive parents. 40 years after her birth, she set out in search of her story and possible relatives and is still active today in the fight against forgetting.
HFBK graduate Kristina Savutsina provides deep insights into Belarusian society with her filmKhan's body (Metropolis, 16.09.16.30).
Also included: the film that has already won awards at several festivalsL'Artificio (Metropolis 17.09. 11:30 am) by HFBK graduate Francesca Bertin. The film is set in an Italian planned city and shows the path from the architectural model in the 1960s to the demolition excavator many years later. There will also be five other films with a Hamburg connection.
